My cat lady BFF Lauren once gifted me a mug that says “Best Cat Mom Ever” and it does the very crucial job of making me laugh every time I take it in or out of the glassware cabinet.
It also does a second, unintentional job: of putting “Best Song Ever” into my head as an earworm every time I look at the mug graphic. Which is a great thing to happen at 5:30 am on the regular.
See? Now it’s in your head too. I dare you to look at this mug and NOT start singing “the best cat mom ev-eeeerrrr!”
THANK YOU, LAUREN.
There’s a third job going on here: to experiment with how certain songs translate to the ukulele.
I was pleasantly surprised to hear how well the highly produced, electronics-heavy songs from reputation came through as acoustic versions in the Surprise Songs project (and when I watched them in Eras Tour videos), so I wanted to throw in a few unexpected bangers and out-of-left-field choices on this project.
We already saw a success (I hope!!) with “Scenes from an Italian Restaurant” — maybe not a banger in your opinion, but definitely something that challenged me when switching from piano to ukulele.
There are a few more iiiinteresting choices to come, so stay tuned.
