“I get up every morning determined both to change the world and to have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning the day difficult.”
— E.B. White
Hey there!
I’m Casey, a storyteller, artist, roadtripper, and general squiggly-brained person.
While I spend an inordinate time thinking about food as part of my job (see also: Good Food Stories), there’s so much more out there that makes me happy and contributes to my life as an adventurous fun-seeker.
I’m a person with a lot of creative interests and a lot of creative outlets, and I want to be able to do all of them — and tell you about all of them.
And that’s where A Good Time with Casey Barber comes in.
This newsletter is a place for me to share what I think is fun and useful on a regular basis. Because my most fervent belief is that we all should be having a good time every day — even if just for a few minutes.
It’s all part of my overall expansion of my work: I’m here to make your life easier and more fun with systems and experiences to support you. (For more on this, feel free to read my business manifesto.)
What will you get when you subscribe to this super-fun and free newsletter?
You’ll get a grab bag of stories from me, like:
Casey Recommends: my personal suggestions on all kinds of stuff that makes my life better in little but meaningful ways
stories from my travels near and far, whether I’m having a Hooky Day at a museum or visiting a mining ghost town
A Good Time Friday: pop culture links and musings on stuff I’ve read all over the interwebs
announcements on my new projects and events whenever they pop up
personal essays on my life as a working creative and how what I’ve learned can help you
and whatever else I decide is worth telling you about every week or so.
It all comes straight from me and it’s all completely what I’m getting into at any particular moment. And it’s our little space to share what makes us happy without feeling weird about what we’re liking, so I hope you’ll feel welcome.
Because as one of the great philosophers of the ‘80s once said:
“Who needs to be at a big, crowded party pretending to have a good time?”
— Harry Burns, When Harry Met Sally
