Y’all, I had a whole productive morning planned, and then
had to go and blow my mind with one of the most crucial, life-affirming questions of our time:Who is your Muppet Big Three?
Have you also never contemplated this question before? Are you not really sure what it means? Don’t worry, I had not truly thought deeply about this until today and now I don’t know why I hadn’t mapped it out before.
Unlike deciding whether a Muppet is a Chaos Muppet or an Order Muppet (fun game, and also important to think where you might fit on that scale), or ranking your overall favorite Muppets, deciding your Muppet Big Three is a window into your soul.
I’ll let Tara explain, as noted in her most excellent post:
In astrology, your big three or your Sun, Moon, and Rising (or “Ascendant”) can be summed as such, thanks to Erika Smith of Cosmo:
In astrology, your Sun sign describes your core identity, ego, motivations, and fundamental personality traits. It’s what makes someone say “She’s such a Leo!” or “They’re the most Gemini-y Gemini I've ever met.”
In astrology, your Moon describes your emotional side, your inner world, and your intuition. It’s the side of yourself that you don’t show to just anyone. Only your nearest and dearest get to see this side of you.
Your Rising sign determines the first impressions you make, the way others see you, and your attitude.
Basically: who you are assigned to be, how you see yourself, and how others see you.
What a question, right??
It’s really difficult to do this and not just pick all Fraggles, because I believe all five of them are my spirit guides (as well as the Trash Heap in her own way). And in fact, I shall write a future post on how Fraggle Rock exemplifies so many life archetypes! But when it comes down to it, I will choose.
And so I choose as my Muppet Big Three:
Sun: Wembley Fraggle
Short with lots of excitable energy, loves a fun lewk, self-doubting to a fault and constantly questioning what’s true, but ultimately finding the inner bravery and self-confidence to go forward and experience the adventures of a lifetime. Loyal to close friends, always singing songs and doofing along, finding the fun and magic in the mundane.
Moon: Bert
Happiest both alone, being content to nerd out on my own little quirky interests, and when spending time with my best buddy (come on, I dare you to tell me that Dan is not the Ernie to my Bert! it’s too obvious) and my beloved pigeons cats, feeling safe in my space with all my stuff in order. That is inner peace.
Again, replace “pigeons” with “cats” and this is pretty much me scrolling through Cat Instagram every day.
Rising: Big Bird
Colorful, immediately welcoming and always making quick friends, a little anxious but constantly curious and creatively adventurous. As Big Bird’s Muppet Wiki page states: “The big yellow bird can roller skate, ice skate, dance, sing, write poetry, draw and even ride a unicycle —” and as a Manifesting Generator, everyone is always impressed by the number of random talents and skills I possess. (I cannot ice skate nor ride a unicycle, however.)
One of my all-time favorite songs, no exaggeration:
Is it weird that my Muppet Big Three are all from Muppet-y offshoots and not the core group from The Muppet Show? IDK, but that’s how I feel it shakes out.
Do you agree? Disagree? And most importantly, WHO IS YOUR MUPPET BIG THREE??
Oh, and if you have more time, here’s Big Bird meeting another one of my childhood besties:
This is hard, Casey! My initial reaction is that Gonzo and Grover are in there, but 🤷🏽♀️
Oh I’m glad you had so much fun with it!!!
