Hello, fellow Xennials, late Gen X-ers and elder millennials! I come to you with a missive from the 1990s — in the form of a big bin of all the mixtapes I've held onto since I made my first one in middle school.
Yep, that's them. And they're going away to electronics recycling next month, after DECADES of lugging them around. It’s the logistically practical thing to do, but it’s still bittersweet.
But before I say goodbye to this pile of old friends, I needed a record of all my work, because who am I if not an obsessive information organizer? (Also, as has been noted, I am still very much a Rob Gordon in many ways.) So I catalogued alllll the mixtape song lists in a Notion database.
And, of course, I wrote a post about what these mixtapes meant to me, and how they're such a powerful snapshot of different moments of my life.
Does anyone else still have their well-played, handwritten mixtapes hidden in a closet somewhere? Or, heavens, do you still have the means to listen to your mixtapes?
Tell me your mixtape tales! Comment below and maybe we can do a mixtape playlist swap in the future. (I would love that.)
Would you love to make cool Notion databases like my mixtape list?
Listen, I know I sound like a broken record (broken mixtape! Ha!), but Notion isn't only for business or team projects.
It's really the perfect way to organize any kind of information, whether that's a meal plan (AHEM), a daily journal, or a to-do dashboard.
Or just a strange list of all the mixtapes you once had, or the books you want to read, or the books you own, or all the stuff you want to watch on every streaming platform.
Let me help you get acquainted with Notion and build beautiful custom dashboards and organization systems!
I'm offering free discovery call sessions so we can get curious and creative about ways to make Notion work for you.
