A little backstory for those of you who don’t remember every daily detail of my adventures — in November 2019, Dan and I drove a cute little campervan from our house in New Jersey all the way across the United States along the length of historic Route 66.
(Yes, it was impeccable timing in hindsight).
And every November since, we get all nostalgic and dreamy about the trip, reminiscing about where we were and what we were doing each day on the road, and retelling all our stories about the things and people and places and cats we met.
This year, I was thinking a lot about all the holiday decorations we encountered along the way. As it turns out, when you drive Route 66 in November, you’re going to inevitably see a ton of Christmas trees and garlands and general festive bits as you move further West each day.
And so any time I hear Christmas music being played in a public space in mid- to late-November — that window of time when it’s a little early for it, but not too early to get into the holiday mood — I think about the bathrooms at the Grand Canyon Railway RV Park.
In fact, I think about them and all the other holiday surprises so much that I ended up writing an entire post (with lots of photos!) about all the gorgeous and fun “Christmas on Route 66” moments we experienced on the trip.
From our first holiday immersion in Tulsa to those aforementioned bathrooms in Williams, Arizona to our grand finale in Disneyland, I covered it all.
And yes, Disneyland counts — Radiator Springs of Cars fame is based on Route 66! Look at this newsletter exclusive video!
